What if we were in an apple tree?
Both hanging,
ripe and ready,
holding our breaths.
Waiting for a warm embrace
Waiting for sharp teeth
Waiting for appreciation.
If we were in an apple tree
you'd be on the first branch
right at arm's reach
right at eye's view
If we were in an apple tree
you'd be the reddest one
no yellow,
or peach,
green,
there would be none
If we were in an apple tree
you'd be the brightest one
glinting in the view of the sun
with a stem
and a leaf
but no little worm
I'd be right above you
just out of arms reach
I'd be just below you
right out of eye's view
I'd be just as red as you
a single shade too dark
I'd be just as bright as you
though the sun would not set on me
not on my spark
I'd also have stem
no leaf
no worm
I'd be everything you are
just almost
not quite.Discussion about this post

Strongly disagree.
You are the finest apple of any tree.
Including apple-apples, pine-apples, french-earth-apples, snake-apples even.
If it does not feel to be so red, it's because of the golden heart.
and golden hearted apples, will fall upwards, far from the tree trunk.
